Residents impacted by the Bunting Road wildfire east of Mabel Lake have been given the all-clear, but still need to be vigilant.

The Regional District of North Okanagan has lifted an evacuation alert for properties on part of Mabel Lake Forest Service Road, which is also known as Lumby Mabel Lake Road, based on a recommendation by the BC Wildfire Service.

Properties rescinded from the alert include the 3,300 – 17,000 blocks of Mabel Lake Forest Service Road including properties known as Cottonwoods.

“Residents are reminded that although the Evacuation Alert has been removed, the Province of British Columbia is still facing threat of wildfire in the area. We encourage you to stay connected with up-to-date information and remain aware of current situations and weather conditions,” a news release from RDNO stated.

The Bunting Road Fire was discovered July 7 and has an estimated size of 4,734 hectares after merging with the Tsuius Creek wildfire.

The Wildfire Service classifies the Bunting Road fire as ‘being held.’
