Swim advisory issued for Sorrento’s Caen Road Community Park

Due to unacceptable bacterial counts found in recent water samples, a swimming advisory has been issued for the Caen Road Community Park in Sorrento.

The park, located at 1255 Dieppe Road, remains open for day-use activities, but Interior Health is warning the public not to swim in the water.

Interior Health said there are a number of reasons for elevated bacteria levels, including from wildlife such as geese and from high temperatures.

Swimming is not recommended by anyone, especially children, as they are more likely to ingest water and have a higher risk of becoming sick.
