Two people suspected of a breaking and entering at a Vernon commercial property Saturday night have been apprehended.

The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP responded to the report of the break and enter at a property in the 4500-block of 27th Street shortly before midnight on Saturday, August 21.

A security employee, who was watching a live feed video of the business, called the police to report that two individuals entered the fenced perimeter of the business with what appeared to be bolt cutters. He stayed on the line with responding officers to provide details of the suspects.

Police arrived on the scene and arrested a 31-year-old man and 27-year-old woman as they attempted to flee the scene on foot.

“We want the public to report suspicious activity immediately and directly to the police,” stated Constable Chris Terleski, Media Relations Officer for the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP.

“Having this information quickly allows us to prevent or interrupt criminal activity in our community and increases our ability to apprehend those responsible for these crimes.”

The suspects, both of whom are Vernon residents, were released from custody pending a future court appearance.

The names of the suspects have not been released as the police continue their investigation into the incident.
