UPDATE: New fire north of Lavington ‘under control’

UPDATE: 11:15 a.m.

The BC Wildfire Service says a new wildfire north of Lavington is ‘under control.’

“The estimated size is still 0.01 hectares. It is suspected to be human caused. Personnel evaluated the incident and determined it to be under control. BCWS is continuing to monitor it,” Taylor Shantz, information officer told Vernon Matters.

The fire, described as 3.8 kilometres up Coldstream Creek, was first reported on July 11.

The B.C. Wildfire Service is reporting a new wildfire north of Lavington.

The fire is identified as being “3.8 kilometres up Coldstream Creek.”

It is very small at 0.01 hectares.

The Wildfire Service says it’s believed to be human caused.

There are 307 active fires in B.C. this morning, with 101 in the Kamloops Fire Centre.
