Pools open for summer

Residents in the Greater Vernon area have more ways to cool off this summer.

The Lakeview “Peanut” Pool in Vernon’s East Hill and the Lavington Wading Pool have opened for the season.

“It was exciting to see families back in the water, enjoying their time at the Lavington Wading Pool,” said Gary Lefebvre, Manager, Aquatics. “We’ll see the same thing at the Peanut Pool and we’re looking forward to a great summer ahead.”

Admission to the outdoor pools is free, however, space is limited to prevent overcrowding. Residents are encouraged to check the city’s website for operating hours at gvrec.ca.

For those who choose to head outside and enjoy part of their day in the sun, remember to practice warm weather safety.

The BC Centre for Disease Control recommends wearing sunscreen, UV-protective eyewear, a hat and protective clothing, seeking shade when possible, staying hydrated and taking it slow with outdoor activities.
