There are 60 active fires in the Kamloops Fire Centre today.

That includes five fires of note (larger fires).

Sparks Lake (K21001)

Discovered: Monday, June 28, 2021 (suspected human cause)

Size: 36,300.0 hectares (estimated)

Status: Active
The Sparks Lake wildfire is currently classified as Out of Control.

The fire size is indicative of the growth on the southwest flank on the evening of July 3, 2021.

Evacuation Order is in effect.

163 homes on evacuation order and 298 homes on evacuation alert.

Durand Lake (K21232)

Discovered: Thursday, July 1, 2021 (Suspected lightning cause)

Size: 150.0 hectares (estimated)

Status: Active
The Durand Lake wildfire is classified as Out of Control.

Evacuation Order is in effect.

The Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) has issued and Evacuation Order for multiple properties in Electoral Area “J” (Copper Desert Country). Please contact the Thompson-Nicola Regional District.

There are three new wildfires in the North Okanagan region, burning in remote territory east of Cherryville. The Inonoaklin fire is the largest at 27 hectares while Tap Creek is 8 hectares and Clematis Creek 0.12 of a hectare. Those three fires are all classified as out of control.

The Derickson Lake fire in Graystokes Provincial Park, east of Kelowna, is still out of control and 1,140 hectares.
