UPDATE 12:00 p.m.

The food court at the Village Green Mall was temporarily closed Friday morning as emergency responders dealt with a tragic medical incident.

RCMP were among the agencies to respond to that part of the shopping centre on 27th Street.

“Shortly after 9 a.m., officers arrived at the location where they found BC Ambulance Service personnel providing treatment to man who had suffered an apparent medical emergency.  The 86-year old man was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Constable Chris Terleski, media relations officer, told Vernon Matters.

Terleski said criminality is not suspected in the death, and the BC Coroners Service is conducting an independent and concurrent fact-finding investigation into the fatality.
