Popular Coldstream agri-business goes up for sale

An iconic Coldstream fixture for weekend brunch, home baked goods and fresh produce is up for sale.

Friesen’s Country Tyme Garden at 9172 Kalamalka Road is a classic farm-to-table operation which has been operating for 35 years and is listed for $1,955,000.

The 5.2 hectare (ten acre) property borders on both Kalamalka Road and Mackie Drive and features a 3986 square foot, 4 bedroom 2 1/2 bath with a private 382 square foot, main floor studio and a two bedroom, one bath basement suite home.

There is over an acre of orchards – a mix of pear, apple, plum and cherry trees, an acre of strawberries and raspberries, and another acre of fields currently rented out for horse boarding.

On the north end of the land there is a storefront which currently houses the retail and cafe portion of Friesen’s Countrytyme Gardens, a bakery and offices, farm storage with walk-in freezer, walk-in cold storage and walk-in cool storage and also an artist space.

The restaurant is currently leased to a third party and will continue to operate.

“I lease the business which is still in place for the foreseeable future and I own the business. I run under the Friesens name however the restaurant will remain operational until the lease runs out,”  Restaurant owner Steve Kooijman stated to Vernon Matters.

The restaurant is open Tuesday thru Saturday 9-3, with a special opening this Sunday for Mother’s Day

There is an attached greenhouse and all the farm machinery to run a small scale agri-business including a new 2020 farm tractor.
