Site work underway for two new Vernon restaurants

Anyone travelling along Vernon’s 27th Street would be hard pressed not to notice the activity on the property next to the Co-op Gas Bar.

Heavy machinery and concrete workers are busy getting the underground works and foundations in place for two new Vernon fast food restaurants.

The plans were unveiled late last year for a White Spot Triple O drive-thru and a Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen, along with an automated car wash, on the parcel of land at 3600 27th Street, part of the former Walthers Pontiac Buick GMC lands.

A building permit was issued at the end of January with a value of $1.5 million for the Triple O’s and Popeyes. A stand alone automatic car wash, valued at $777,000, is also part of the plan.

A spokesperson for Popeyes told Vernon Matters the restaurant will be open by late 2021.
