UPDATE: More children approached by stranger in Kelowna

Mar 26, 2021 | 10:50 AM

RCMP have had another concerning report that children were approached by a stranger in Kelowna.

Mounties received a report today (Mar. 26) that a man had driven up to four young girls on Forest Edge Road in Kelowna on Mar. 22 around 3:45 p.m. The man had a small dog with him, and asked them if they wanted to get into his vehicle with it. The girls said no, and ran to a relatives’ house.

RCMP are working to determine a description of the man and the vehicle, but few details are known at this time.

“The children did everything right in this situation. This incident is concerning, and we are working diligently to determine more information and identify the driver involved in this report,” Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy of the Kelowna RCMP, said.  “In general, please remember that you should never attempt to interact with, or pick up, children that you don’t know. If you are concerned for a child in the community, please call the police in your jurisdiction immediately and we will follow up and ensure their safety.”

This report follows one on Monday (Mar. 22) where a man drove up to two boys on Arbor View Drive in Kelowna around 1:30 p.m. and asked them if they wanted to get into his vehicle. The two boys said no, and the man drove away. He apparently was seen by the boys several times again during that time period.

Anyone who witnessed the latest incident, lives in the area and has surveillance video, or anyone with information is asked to call the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300, or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or by leaving a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net
