A Vernon mortgage broker is being recognized for her contributions to the industry,

Deb White, owner and founder of Dominion Lending Centres White House Mortgages is one of the 2020 inductees into the Mortgage Brokers Hall of Fame by Canadian Mortgage Professional (CMP) magazine.

The publication said the 22 inductees this year “have helped make the industry what it is today and will continue to influence what it becomes tomorrow.”

“I feel so honored and humbled to be recognized in the CMP Hall of Fame for 2020! Thank you to my community, clients, friends & family for the support this would not have been possible without you,” White told Vernon Matters.

White has also been named to Mortgage Global Top 100 List, recognized as a Woman of Influence in CMP magazine, been elected to Canadian Mortgage Brokers Association’s British Columbia Board of Directors, and become one of 15 who reached Hero Hall of Fame Status nationally with Dominion Lending Centres.

On a local level in 2020, White, a former chairperson of the Vernon Winter Carnival board of directors, became treasurer for the Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce, and was named to the chamber’s Top 20 over 40 List.

White opened her brokerage in Vernon in 2005 and it has since grown to include mortgage brokers in multiple locations around the B.C. Interior.

“One of the founding ideals of White House Mortgages is community involvement, with the firm and brokers supporting several charitable organizations both financially and by providing volunteers for various events,” White said.

As an essential service provider, White and her team of 20+ mortgage brokers working in the B.C. Interior were able to help local residents access record-low interest rates to buy new homes, renew existing mortgages and tap into home equity through a refinance to ease cashflow and pay off debt.

“Where there is challenge, there is also opportunity,” White said. “It’s our job to show borrowers these opportunities in order to help them save money, especially during trying times.”

Deb and her husband Doug have four children and six grandchildren.
