A North Okanagan man facing a charge of assaulting a peace officer had a brief court appearance in Vernon Provincial Court Thursday (Jan. 7).

Curtis Sagmoen, 40, had his case put over to Feb 11, 2021 which the B.C. court registry says will be for an arraignment hearing, which are for the accused to plead guilty or not guilty.

Sagmoen, who has past convictions for abuse of sex trade workers, is accused of assaulting a police officer Oct. 29, 2020 at a location in Spallumcheen with no other details provided.

The accused is currently under court orders not to have any contact with sex workers after he was convicted of assaulting a woman by running into her with an ATV near his home on Salmon River Road in 2017.
