Former Morning Star editor passes away

Sad news for a well-known Vernon family.

The death of Glenn Mitchell has been announced by his brother, Kevin, on social media.

Glenn Mitchell was the managing editor of the Vernon Morning Star newspaper for close to 30 years, starting as sports editor when the paper was launched in 1988.

After he left the position a few years ago, Mitchell continued to write his popular weekly columns for the Star, which put a humorous spin on his life, his family and events in the news and sports.

Mitchell, 60, died suddenly on Dec. 17.

Mitchell leaves behind his wife Rhoda, and two sons, Justin and Lucas.

He is also survived by his parents, Lloyd and Marion Mitchell, and younger brothers Murray and Craig.

“May God be looking over you great brother of mine,” Kevin Mitchell wrote on Facebook.

There has been an outpouring of condolences being sent to the family on social media.
