UPDATE 11:15 a.m.
RCMP say a semi truck hitting a light standard on the side of Highway 97A was the cause of a power outage impacting over 3,000 customers in the North Okanagan.

The semi had pulled over to the roadside near Harding Road in Spallumcheen around 9 a.m. and struck a light standard which fell on the power lines.
“BC Hydro has been advised and Hwy 97A currently has one northbound lane blocked to traffic while crews work,” said Cpl. Tania Finn with Vernon North Okanagan RCMP.
BC Hydro is estimating service to be restored by 12 p.m.
