Fall garden drop-off program in Coldstream scrapped

The District of Coldstream has cancelled its fall garden waste/leaf drop-off program at its transfer station on Middleton Drive due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This action is in support of the public gathering orders and social distancing measures put in place by the Provincial Medical Health Officer, to ensure the safety of residents and staff alike,” a news release from the district said.

Residents can use the Regional District of North Okanagan landfill on Birnie Road to dispose of their garden waste.

“The decision to cancel the 2020 fall garden waste/leaf drop-off program was made taking into account the limited usable area at the transfer station, the ability to manage traffic while ensuring public health orders are being followed, and the site specific mitigation measures that have already been implemented at the landfill,” the district said.
