58 new Covid cases in B.C.; 0 new cases in Interior

B.C.’s new COVID-19 case count is down a bit today.

The province is reporting 58 new infections, most of those in the Lower Mainland, and there have been no new cases in Interior Health.

There are now 1,124 active cases in B.C., with one more Covid-related death for a total of 209.

There are 15 active cases in Interior Health with no one in hospital.

The outbreak at the Okanagan Correctional Centre in Oliver remains at seven cases (all staff), with one active case.

A statement from the Health Ministry said 2,761 people are under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases and 4,505 people who tested positive have recovered.

Currently, 31 individuals are hospitalized with COVID-19, 10 of those in intensive care. The remaining people with COVID-19 are recovering at home in self-isolation.

There have been no new health-care facility outbreaks, and no new community outbreaks.

The B.C. government has extended the provincial state of emergency for another two weeks, until the end of the day on Sept. 20.
