Vernon bus drivers to get COVID protection

BC Transit bus drivers in the North Okanagan are getting more protection from COVID-19.

Retrofits on all conventional fleet buses in Vernon will be underway in the coming days that will see full driver doors installed.

BC Transit says they are designed to protect the health and safety of BC Transit operators.

It says service levels will not be impacted.

“The full driver door is a movable barrier situated to the right of the driver’s seat near the fare box designed to increase protection for our drivers,” a BC Transit release said. “It includes a transparent piece of laminated tempered glass with anti-glare coating and metal base.”
