Kelowna RCMP still hunt for hotel shooter

Aug 27, 2020 | 2:06 PM

Kelowna RCMP say several shots were fired during a targeted gun attack on two men at the Ramada Hotel on Harvey Avenue Wednesday.

One of the victims was thought to have been shot during the incident but police now say he was injured while fleeing from the gunman.

“The initial investigation determined that a single shooter appeared to have targeted two men in the parking lot of the hotel, firing several shots from a handgun,” Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy, Kelowna RCMP spokesperson said. ” It is believed he then fled the area in a black car.

“Fortunately, neither victim sustained injuries from the gunfire, though one man did suffer minor injuries while fleeing.”

Noseworthy said an abandoned vehicle, suspected to be involved in the incident, was located by Kelowna RCMP about two hours after the shooting, just after 1 p.m. yesterday, on Skeena Drive on Dilworth Mountain.

“Extensive searching of the area did not locate a suspect,” Noseworthy said.

The RCMP’s General Investigation Section has taken over the investigation.
