COVID-19 map tracks B.C. cases

An updated COVID-19 map released by the province shows at least 21 residents of Vernon have had confirmed cases of of the virus, since the pandemic began until the end of July.

There have been 209 cases among Central Okanagan residents.

The map shows the majority of cases have so far been in the Fraser Valley and the Vancouver area.

The province’s top health official, Dr. Bonnie Henry, reports one new death today from COVID, in the Fraser Health region.

Henry says the person who died was a resident of long-term care and the death toll in the province is now 204.

Henry says there are 68 new cases of COVID-19 across the province totalling 906 active cases with 22 people in hospital.

B.C.’s top doctor also reports eight suspected cases of MISC, an inflammatory syndrome, in children that is believed to be caused by the new coronavirus.

She says none of the children tested positive for COVID and all have recovered.
