58 new COVID-19 cases in BC

B.C. officials have announced dozens of new COVID-19 cases in the province.

“Today, we are announcing 58 new cases, including one epi-linked case since we reported on Monday, for a total of 5,242 cases in British Columbia,” said a joint statement from Health Minister Adrian Dix and provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry. “There are 925 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.”

There are no new deaths.

Meanwhile, 2,675 people are under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases.

More than 4,000 people have recovered from the coronavirus.

“Currently, 22 individuals are hospitalized with COVID-19, seven of whom are in intensive care. The remaining people with COVID-19 are recovering at home in self-isolation,” the statement said.

There are no new cases in Interior Health which remains at 425.

“There have been two new health-care facility outbreaks, one at Bear Creek Villa and one at Langley Memorial Hospital, both located in the Fraser Health region,” the statement said.

They said that, in total, 10 long-term care or assisted-living facilities and two acute-care facilities have active outbreaks.
