Dr. Bonnie Henry said the latest COVID-19 numbers show British Columbia still have work to do when it comes to controlling transmission of the virus.

The provincial health officer reports 24 new cases since Saturday, with one new death.

“This tells us there is still transmission around the province and were not completely out of the woods yet,” Henry said at Monday’s B.C. coronavirus update.

There were nine new cases from Saturday to Sunday, and 15 more from Sunday to Monday.

There are no new cases in the Interior Health region, still at 195 total cases.

There are 224 active cases in the province, with 32 of those in hospital and five in critical care.

There is one new death at a long term care home in Fraser Health.

A total of 2,207 people who had COVID-19 fully recovered (85 per cent of cases).

There are no new health or community outbreaks.

Henry said 356,196 people took the province’s survey which ended data collection over the weekend.

“This will help us understand the impact the restrictions and pandemic have had on our communities, and will help shape our responses going forward,” Henry said.
