Deal signed for more affordable housing in Vernon

Jun 1, 2020 | 5:15 AM

BC Housing, the City of Vernon and the Canadian Mental Health Association are all on board the latest affordable housing project in the city.

Twenty-nine housing units for low to moderate income earners are being added at Albert Place at 3610 25th Avenue near Lincoln Lanes, upping the total number of units to 47.

Mayor Victor Cumming said it will be a positive development for the community near the downtown core.

He says work will get underway this year with the city providing zoning and parking adjustments.

“This will be a site that has limited parking because lots of these tenants don’t have vehicles. The low level will be for seniors so there is places for scooters for seniors. So that’s been our role, to make sure this flows through and flows through successfully,” Cumming told Vernon Matters.
