Coldstream Station not ready to roll-out just yet

The next step for a new attraction in Coldstream will be to get detailed designs and cost estimates.

Coldstream Station, next to Dutch’s Campground on Kalamalka Road, is already providing parking for Rail Trail users, with complimentary retail operations to be added in the future.

There will also be a washroom on the site, which council recently decided will be separate from the retail area.

Mayor Jim Garlick explains what the next steps will be.

“Detailed plans will now be drawn up in order to determine costs and possible funding mechanisms. The time is yet to be determined in details, but we will try for ASAP,” Garlick told Vernon Matters.

District chief administrative officer Trevor Seibel said more will be coming forward on the proposal in the coming months.

“Once preliminary design is complete, we have to get a detailed design for the property. At that point we will have a better cost estimate and possible funding. Council has not authorized any construction on the site beyond the design work,” said Seibel.
