Learning martial arts by video; new reality for next while
A Vernon small business has adapted to physical distancing while keeping both children and adults active and engaged at home.
Breakthrough Martial Arts owner Rob Rinas has transitioned his Vernon and Kitchener martial arts studios to an online learning community which is giving his students (age 4 and up) an opportunity to keep active, share with each other, and continue to advance their Kung Fu skills from the safety of their home.
Rinas has about 150 students participating in the new Facebook community where he uploads six interactive video classes per week. Students can then ask questions online and even send in videos of themselves for remote testing in order to advance to the next belt level.
After passing testing, new belts are dropped off outside the student’s homes – something that gets the younger students very excited.
