Sparkling Hill Resort in Vernon is the latest business to announce a temporary shut down due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

CEO Hans-Peter Mayr issued an email to their guests Friday night, saying while no coronavirus cases have been related to the resort, they took the action based on the most recent update by the B.C. Health Ministry.

“Over the past weeks, the team at Sparkling Hill Resort has been following the developments surrounding Covid-19 very closely,” said Mayr. “It has been a rapidly evolving situation, and we have been adjusting our response on a daily and sometimes hourly basis as new information continues to come to light. Although no cases have been related to the resort, it is with a heavy heart that we announce based on the most recent update provided by the BC Provincial Health Officer this afternoon, Sparkling Hill will temporarily close its doors. This closure will take effect at 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 21 2020.”

Mayr said the resort hopes to reopen as soon as it is possible, while passing-on their “immense gratitude and respect” to the healthcare workers involved in the battle.

“This is an immensely somber and uncertain time for all of us, and we are exceptionally grateful for the support we have seen from our community and team. The health of our guests and of our team is important above all else, and we wish all of you safety and well-being in this challenging time,” said Mayr.
