Recreation facilities closed in Armstrong-Spallumcheen

The Armstrong Spallumcheen Parks and Recreation Commission, in consultation with the City of Armstrong, and the Township of Spallumcheen, are closing all recreational facilities to the public as of today (March 18) in the City of Armstrong for an undetermined period.

“This is a public health related response to the ongoing health and safety concerns posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and recommendations of the medical health officer of British Columbia who has declared COVID-19 a public health emergency'” said a news release from the Township of Spallumcheen.

All parks and recreation facilities are now closed including the following:

• Norval Ice Arena and meeting room

• Hassen Arena, fitness studio and Medical Loan Cupboard

• Centennial Hall and Auditorium

The closures also include the following facilities located in the Armstrong Spallumcheen IPE Grounds at and around 3371 Pleasant Valley Road:

  • Horticultural Building
  • Agriplex indoor riding arena
  • Riding ring 1 and grandstand viewing area
  • Riding Ring 2 and seated area
  • Cattle Swine Complex.
  • Poultry Barn

“We ask for your understanding and patience during this unprecedented time and as we work through the logistics of this closure,” said Lars Larsen, General Manager, Armstrong Spallumcheen Parks and Recreation. “We will provide customers with important information regarding their accounts and future bookings impacted by this closure within the next five business days. We will also post relevant information on our website at: www.asprd.com.”
