Pleads with people to stop mass buying

Vernon-Monashee MLA closes office

Vernon-Monashee MLA Eric Foster is pleading with people not to panic over the spread of Covid-19 and to follow recommendations from the province’s health officer.

Foster has closed his 31st Avenue office in the downtown with immediate effect until further notice but says his staff are available to constituents by telephone and email.

He said the decision was made after consultations with colleagues.

“This impulse hoarding and buying is not necessary,” Foster said in an interview with Vernon Matters. “The supply chains are good, the groceries are going to come in, the toilet paper is going to come in.”

“You don’t need to worry about filling up your pick up with supplies,” he said.

He said people should follow the provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry’s advice on social distancing and hand-washing in order to protect themselves from the new virus.
