Alerts lifted, mail delivery resumes

Canada Post has lifted all service alerts in the Okanagan that stopped mail delivery for two days last week in Vernon, Kelowna and Lake Country.

“Now that the weather conditions have improved, we would like to remind residents to keep a clear path home by removing snow, salting, and sanding the path to their door and mailbox,” Canada Post spokesperson Hayley Magermans said.

While “neither rain, nor sleet, nor gloom of night” is supposed to stop postal deliveries, Magermans explained a service alert system was implemented by Canada Post in 2014 “to let customers know if delivery in their area has been impacted by weather events.”

Mail delivery was expected to be back to normal Monday.
