Field set for B.C. curling championship in Vernon

All the teams that will be coming to Vernon for the 2020 B.C. Seniors Curling Championships have been determined.

The Feb. 18-23 at the Vernon Curling Club will feature the top eight 50+ men’s teams and the top seven 50+ women’s teams in B.C.

The winning rinks will advance to the Everest Canadian Seniors from Mar. 16-22 at the Portage Curling Club in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.

Mark Longworth will skip the local favourite, a team from Vernon and Winfield with Dean Mackney, Greg Hamilton and Ron McDougall.

There are also three men’s rinks and one women’s team that have a Kelowna component.

The final men’s team qualified at open playdowns at Peace Arch Curling Club this past weekend.

The team includes former Canadian and world champions Brent Pierce and Bryan Miki from Royal City Curling Club. Pierce and Miki were on the B.C.-based McAulay rink that won the Brier and world championship in 2000.
