A Coldstream resident is facing charges after an attempted robbery at a Vernon business.

Police say a man with a weapon entered a unnamed business in the 3300 block of 32nd Avenue last Thursday around 1:15 p.m. and approached one of the employees working in the back of the store.

“The suspect grabbed an employee and a scuffle ensued between the two. The employee was able to disarm the suspect and hold him until police arrived,” said Vernon RCMP Cpl. Tania Finn.

Finn says the worker suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident.

“Our frontline officers arrived on scene within minutes of the 911 call. The suspect was arrested without further incident,” Finn said.

A 63-year-old Coldstream man has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon.
