NHL scouts continue to keep a close watch on a Vernon Vipers defenceman.

Trey Taylor, who will turn 18 on Feb. 4, is among five BC Hockey League products who are listed in NHL Central Scouting’s mid-season rankings.

Taylor, a 6’2, 175 pound blue-liner from Richmond B.C., is listed as the 189th North American skater.

“Taylor is in his second season with the Vipers and has five goals and eight assists for 13 points so far this season. Over his two-year career, the Richmond, B.C. native has 26 points in 93 regular-season games and contributed another six points in 21 postseason games during Vernon’s run to the Fred Page Cup finals last year,” said a release from the BCHL.

Taylor’s older brother Ty was a goalie for the Vipers from 2016 to 2018 and was drafted in the seventh round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Ethan Bowen (F) with the Chilliwack Chiefs (77th North American skater), Danny Weight (F) of the Penticton Vees (116th), Kyler Kovich (F) of the Nanaimo Clippers (164th) and Jackson Glassford (G) of the Alberni Valley Bulldogs (22nd North American goaltender), are the other BCHL prospects on Central Scouting’s list.
