National retailer gives Salvation Army campaign a boost
Walmart is once again giving a helping hand to the Salvation Army, and the people it helps everyday.
The retailer will be matching donations made at the Army’s Christmas kettles in Vernon and other cities this Saturday, up to a maximum of $100,000.
The event is called ‘Walmart Fill The Kettle Day.’
“With one in seven Canadians struggling to make ends meet, the Salvation Army relies on this fundraising campaign to help feed, clothe, shelter and empower those in need,” Lt. Stefan Reuid from the Vernon Salvation Army said. “Since 2007, Walmart Canada and its customers have donated more than $29 million to The Salvation Army through our Christmas Kettle Campaign. “We are truly grateful to Walmart Canada for their generous support and longstanding partnership.”
