Vipers knock-off front runners for fifth straight win

Dec 13, 2019 | 9:50 PM

They got outshot 42 to 18, but won 2-0

That usually means the goalie was the first star.

James Porter Jr. stopped all 42 shots fired his way as the Vernon Vipers blanked the Penticton Vees 2-0 before 1,965 fans at Kal Tire Place Friday night.

Mill Bay B.C product Seiya Tanaka Campbell, with his first goal of the season, and Trey Taylor, with his fourth, scored for Vernon who moved to within 11 points of the Interior Division leading Vees.

Taylor’s goal late in the third period was Vernon’s only shot on goal in the final period.

BCHL Player of the Week Matt Kowalski extended his scoring streak to 12 games with two assists.

The two teams hold a rematch Saturday in Penticton, pre game start time at 5:45 p.m. on 107.5 Beach Radio.
