Dozens attend RDNO open house

Nov 27, 2019 | 6:39 PM

It was a packed house at the Vernon library as dozens of people turned up to attend the second annual Regional District of North Okanagan open house.

Over sixty people attended within the first hour to view displays and get information on district projects and initiatives.

“What we wanted to do is put together an open house where we showcase the breath of services we offer. People may not know but we have over 70 services under our umbrella,” said Ashley Gregerson, communications officer with the RDNO.

Emergency management, victim services, and representatives with waste, disposal and water were on hand to educate the pubic on current initiatives.

A favorite among attendees was information on the Okanagan Rail Trail, where the district provided information on progress and asked for public feedback.

“It’s strikingly positive, and it shows the skill of the people on the board because there are jurisdictions issues and sensitivities, and I think they are managing those well,” said attendee Dirk Sigalet.

The open house took place on Wednesday Nov. 27 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
