Snakes’ streak snapped

Oct 27, 2019 | 4:49 PM

The Vernon Vipers seven game win streak came to an end Sunday at the Frank Crane Arena.

The Nanaimo Clippers cooled-off the Snakes with a 5-0 win before 1,108 supporters in the Hub City.

Zachary Bennett, a Winnipeg product, made 24 saves for the shutout for the second place team in the Island Division.

The Vipers looked to have ran out of gas after a string of three games in as many days, and after hard-fought wins in Powell River and Alberni Valley.

Reilly Herbst took the loss with 27 saves, the Niwot Colorado native’s first defeat since joining the Vipers earlier this month.

The 10-7 Vipers face the prospect of eight more road games before returning to Kal Tire Place Nov. 22.

The BCHL squad starts another string of three in a row Friday in Victoria against the Grizzlies.
