Snakes snare shootout win

The good times continue to roll for the Vernon Vipers.

The red-hot BCHL team got its seventh straight win, 4-3 in a shootout over the Alberni Valley Bulldogs before a crowd of 942 at the Weyerhauser Arena Saturday night.

Cameron Macdonald forced overtime, scoring with 1:13 left in the third period for Vernon who then outscored Alberni four goals to three in the shootout to win it.

Cole Steinke made 18 saves for the win in net as the Snakes improved to 10-6 on the season.

Vernon had 47 shots on Bulldog goalie Luke Pearson.

In other action Saturday, league leading Salmon Arm got its 15th win, 4-2 over Wenatchee, Penticton clipped Chilliwack 4-3 in OT and Trail smoked West Kelowna 8-2.

The Vipers conclude their road trip in Nanaimo against the Clippers Sunday afternoon with the pre game show on 107.5 Beach Radio 1:45 p.m.
