Vernon approves $44.5M borrow for the ALC

The city of Vernon is taking out its next big chunk of funding for the Active Living Centre.

Vernon City Council approved borrowing $44.5 million from the Municipal Finance Authority (MFA) of British Columbia to fund the construction of the new recreation hub.

The city had previously borrowed $31.5 million in 2024 and another $45 million in 2025.

The city was borrowing up to a combined $121 million from the MFA to construct the ALC, which was slated to be done and open to the public by the fall of 2026.
