Vernon on list for advanced gas meter project
FortisBC will be holding a meeting in Vernon this week to provide information to customers about plans for new advanced gas meters.
The plan is to install one million of the wireless devices between 2022 and 2026, allowing Fortis to better monitor and manage its system.
“This project would help us build a stronger, more reliable system to deliver natural gas to homes and businesses across British Columbia,” said Douglas Stout, FortisBC vice-president of market development and external relations. “Upgrading to advanced meters would modernize our gas infrastructure. The new meters would allow us to better monitor and manage our system – for example FortisBC could remotely detect and respond to gas leaks.”
The public is invited to attend an info session Wednesday (Oct. 23) from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Prestige Hotel at 4411 32 Street.
