Plea for help

Salvation Army running out of items

Sep 11, 2019 | 4:06 PM

The Salvation Army’s House of Hope is reaching out to the community for help with its parents and tots program.

The shelves are empty of staple items offered to parents who access Salvation Army services, according to Executive Director Stefan Reid.

“We’re out of formula, canned baby food, cereal, baby wash, baby lotion, soothers, bottles, baby cups,” Reid said. “Our shelves are empty and it’s not looking good right now.”

Reid acknowledged this is an annual problem at this time of year that is also affecting the food bank and he is hoping the Vernon public will be generous.

“Our shelves are depleting,” Reid said. “Right now we are pretty low on a lot of our staple items in the food bank.”

Those who wish to donate to the parents and tots program are asked to take the items into the House of Hope at 3303 32nd Avenue.
