Environment on election agenda

Now that a federal election has officially been called, local candidates are ready to get out and meet the public.

Locally, two all-candidate forums are arranged for those campaigning in the North Okanagan-Shuswap riding.

The Armstrong/Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce is hosting a forum on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at Centennial Hall, starting at 7 p.m.

The Sustainable Environment Network Society (SENS) is holding a forum on Sept. 26 at the Schubert Centre, from 7 to 9:30 p.m.

“Find out about your candidates, who will best provide a health community/country, bring your questions on sustainability and local environment,” the SENS release said.

The release also said Conservative Party candidate Mel Arnold would not be attending but the incumbent MP told Vernon Matters that he would be there.

Other candidates in the local race include Cindy Derkaz of the Liberal Party, Harwinder Sandhu of the NDP, Mark Reinarz of the Green Party and Kyle Delfing of the People’s Party of Canada.
