Watch: Sun and fun at new Hurlburt Park

Jul 4, 2019 | 5:00 AM

Hurlburt Park officially opened to the public on Friday, June 28, and local residents and tourists alike have been taking full advantage of the picturesque sun and sand.

For years the park on Eastside Road was used as a summer camp and was known to many as Camp Hurlburt.

Trinity United Church ran the camp, and sold the land to the Regional District of North Okanagan in 2015 citing declining enrollment and budget restraints.

The land along Okanagan Lake was later transferred over to the City of Vernon, which began renovating the beach in January.

The site comes equipped with new picnic tables, fresh pavement,
and washrooms.

The City of Vernon will be hosting a grand opening on Aug. 2 at 10 a.m.
