Temper tantrum at hospital

Temper tantrum at Vernon Jubilee Hospital yields jail sentence

May 27, 2019 | 6:13 AM

A man who threw a temper tantrum at Vernon Jubilee Hospital was handed down a 30-day jail sentence by a judge on Monday.

Trevor Stanley Luszcz, who has a lengthy criminal record, appeared in court via video conference.

The court heard that on May 5, Luszcz was throwing and kicking the furniture and making threats towards the staff.

When police arrived at approximately 10:30 p.m., Luszcz was being monitored by security.

Crown lawyer Brock Bellrichard told the judge that the staff at the hospital described his behavior to police as “out of control” and suspected that he was under the influence.

The defence and Crown both agreed to a joint submission of 30-days, which the judge ultimately accepted.

“You disturbed all the people who work there ….and it cost you 30 days”, he said to Luszcz.

Luszcz is already under probation from previous offences.

He will still be allowed to get treatment at VJH for his medical condition.
