Meet Jagger: Vernon North Okanagan RCMP’s newest recruit

The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP revealed a new four-legged member to the police force on Monday.

Jagger is a 3-year-old German Shepard, with previous policing experience in the Lower Mainland.

The RCMP say Jagger has the unique ability to be both kind and tough at a moment’s notice.

“ He is able to go in with the children, he is able to liase with children he is able to be very friendly and deal with people and he also has the ability to put on his work collar and he has the ability to go to work and be very serious,” said Superintendent Shawna Baher.

And Jagger the dog has already been put to work.

On Monday Baher said that Jagger participated in a track and helped chase a robber across the creek.

The new recruit is a replacement for nine-year -old Kane who has since entered retirement.

Another police dog is expected to join the RCMP detatchment in the very near future.
