Coldstream supports increase to recreation study

Coldstream council is on board with a more expensive feasibility study into new recreation facilities for Greater Vernon.

Vernon council is looking to spend up to $150,000 in a cost share project with its regional partners for a consulting firm to take a closer look at a new healthy living centre featuring a new indoor pool and other recreation facilities.

That’s up $50,000 from the earlier estimate.

After a discussion at Monday’s meeting, Coldstream council has agreed to send a letter of support for the increased funding.

Coldstream council has also approved a three year contract for traffic line painting of District roads to Aardvark Pavement Marking Services for $195,085.

Aardvark was the lowest of two official bids, with Map Investments bidding $266,060.

Former Vernon mayoralty candidate Art Gourley, who is a painter, also made a submission, but it was deemed not to be in compliance as there were no price quotes submitted.
