Gun & Drugs Seized In Arrest

Two alleged drug traffickers are facing charges after RCMP seized a large calibre handgun from inside a vehicle, along with suspected illicit drugs in Kelowna.

Plain clothes officers from the drug section conducted a traffic stop Thursday with a green Dodge Charger near the intersection of Cooper Road and Springfield Road, after the occupants were observed participating in what police believed to be a transaction of illicit drugs.

“Our officers training and instincts were put to the test,” says Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey. “Those officers became increasingly concerned for their safety during their interaction with the driver and his passenger roadside.”

“Once both vehicle occupants were in police custody, officers located a fully loaded .45 calibre handgun within arms reach of the driver,” adds O’Donaghey.
