UPDATE:BX/Swan Lake Crews Fight Grass Fire

UPDATE: 4:07 p.m.

BX/Swan Lake firefighters fought a grass fire in the 7200 block of Mountridge Road this afternoon that at one point was heading toward a house.

Fire Chief Bill Wacey says the slash pile fire was whipped up by wind changing directions and grew to about 100 metres wide before it was brought under control by the 11 crew members at the scene.

He says there are just two days left of burning season and advises a number of people attend a fire to ensure it doesn’t get out of control.
