Stolen Truck Gets Stuck In Park

A 36 year of Vernon man is facing stolen property charges after allegedly joyriding off-road in a stolen truck.

A citizen called police after a vehicle appeared to be stuck on a trail in Ellison Provincial Park, south of the city, last Thursday.

“Through further investigation, front line officers determined the vehicle was an alleged stolen truck out of Kelowna,” says Cst. Kelly Brett.

Given the park has no road access, a police helicopter was used to track the driver who tried to flee on foot.

“As RCMP Air Services continued to track the driver from the air, front line officers located and apprehended him without incident,” says Brett.

At last report, the suspect was being held in custody, with charges pending for possession of stolen property and breach of conditions.
