UPDATE: Body Found in Lake Identified

RCMP have identified a body found floating face down in Okanagan Lake near Gyro Beach in Kelowna on Sunday.

The woman has been identified as 29-year-old Caitlin Midori Bradley of Surrey.

“RCMP and the BC Coroners Service continue to investigate the circumstances which surround Caitlin Bradley’s death, as police work to establish a time line,” says Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey. “Retracing Caitlin Bradley’s movements leading up to her death will be one of the priorities for our investigators and we urge anyone who may be able to assist us with this to contact us immediately.”

O’Donaghey says while the woman’s death has not yet been officially classified, investigators do not believe criminality was involved.

Emergency personnel and investigators have now cleared from the beach, and the area has re-opened to the public.

An investigation is underway after a body was discovered in Okanagan Lake.

“On April 21, 2019 at 2:23 p.m., RCMP received a report of what appeared to be a person, floating face down in the Okanagan Lake just off the shore of Gyro Beach. Kelowna RCMP front line officers responded to the scene alongside, paramedics of BC Emergency Health Services and the Kelowna Fire Department. The BC Coroners Service has also been called to the scene to conduct an investigation,” says RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

O’Donaghey says the investigation is in early stages, as police work with the coroner to identify the deceased, followed by to process to notify next of kin.

“Gyro Beach remains closed at this time to allow emergency crews to access the scene. It will likely remain closed for a number of hours to allow police and coroners to conduct their investigation.”
