'Dynamic Takedown' Ends Incident

‘Dynamic Takedown’ Ends Incident

Apr 12, 2019 | 11:35 AM

Police in Vernon completed what they call a “dynamic takedown” of two suspects after trying to arrest an alleged prohibited driver.

The incident took place Wednesday just after 8 pm at 4300 32nd Street, near the Vernon Square Mall, where a female driver tried to flee from police in a dangerous manner.

“Officers quickly surrounded the vehicle and were able to disable it from moving any further. A dynamic take down of the two suspects was executed and both were apprehended without further incident,” says Cst. Kelly Brett.

Deidra Ferguson of Vernon is facing possible charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, obstructing police, driving while  prohibited and posession of a controlled substance, while Robert Lampreau of Vernon could face a breach of probation charge.

“Often motivating factors for suspects to flee from police outweigh their regard for public safety and they will do anything to avoid being taken into custody,” says Brett. “The swift actions of the front line officers in this incident, prevented a potential dangerous driving situation and were able to successfully take two suspects into custody.”

Police say the suspects are being held in custody.
