Flood-Weary City Should Avoid Issues This Year
Armstrong’s mayor says it looks like his community will avoid flooding issues like its had the last two years.
“All our initial runoff from the low lands has gone really well. We haven’t encountered any flooding at all. Now were waiting for the upper levels to come off, but were not anticipating any flooding like we had in 2017 and 2018,” Chris Pieper tells Beach Radio News.
Pieper says a City project to dredge Meighan Creek for the first time in about 30 years is one reason for fewer issues.
“The dredging we did definitely helped, but Mother Nature helped a lot too by not providing snow melt at the wrong times.”
